Allen, Richard Hinckley Star Names Their Lore and Their Meaning Constellation by constellation (pre 1922!), the etymology of the names of the stars is brought to light, along with indications on the lore associated with them. Marvellous book! |
| Cornwell, Bernard Stonehenge This is an historical novel and not, strictly speaking, mythology. However, for anyone interested in Stonehenge it will be an excellent read, combining as it does recent ideas (such as John North's) with Cornwell's natural skill as a story teller. Recommended. |
| Lloyd- Jones, Hugh Myths of the Zodiac Jones is something of a 'fundi' where Greek Mythology is concerned, and his extensive knowledge is evident in this well written book, which is illustrated with photographs of specially-commisiioned sculptures. Not for young children. |

Ridpath, Ian Star Tales The mythological tales behind the constellations that we recognise today. An easy read, and a good "dip-in" book, written by a respected astronomy author. |
