Tonkin, Stephen (ed) Amateur Telescope Making Whilst, for obvious reasons, I am unable to be entirely objective about this book, I believe it will become a useful addition to any ATM's bookshelf and a complement to the other modern ATM books. There are fifteen projects for the ATM, including mounts, astrophotography and electronics as well as telescopes of varying complexity. |
| Howard, Neale E. Standard Handbook for Telescope Making Perhaps the best book for the first-time telescope maker. Covers all aspects of making an 8" f/7 plus a variety of mounts. Highly recommended for the new ATM. |

Mackintosh, Allan (ed.) Advanced Telescope Making Techniques, Vol 1 Advanced Telescope Making Techniques, Vol 2 Reprints from the Maksutov Circulars. Worth having, but definitely not a beginner's book. |
| Manly, Peter L. Unusual Telescopes Full of interesting and amusing ideas. Not a manual, but more a general interest book for armchair ATMing. |
